Desserts
The best desserts don’t have to be complicated. Some of mine go back generations, like the rhubarb crisp I still bake in my great-grandmother’s Pyrex dish. Others are newer favourites, like a silky lemon posset. All are easy to make, and a sweet reason to linger at the table a little longer.
No-Churn Dulce de Leche and Whipped Coffee Ice Cream
Dulce de leche and whipped coffee folded into cream, no ice cream maker needed. Smooth and velvety, it melts in the mouth.
watermelon fruit jelly
This watermelon fruit jelly is a fun twist when fresh fruit is added. My 2-year-old grandson loved it but so did my daughter and husband.
orange olive oil cake
This isn’t your typical orange cake batter as a blender whips the ingredients together.
diy turtles candy (a canadian confectionery)
This recipe salutes the commercial brand, TURTLES; a Canadian candy since 1949. These cute turtles make a lovely hostess gift.
cookie tiramisù
Tiramisù (pick me up in Italian) hails from Northwestern Italy in Veneto. It’s been around…
pineapple squares – a vintage dessert
As a child, one of the Christmas things I eagerly looked forward to was all the baked goodies my mom and maternal grandmother would make. One of those goodies was pineapple squares. I’m not sure where or when the recipe came to be but it’s been around in my family since the mid-1960s.
plum jelly
My mom made many jellied salads and aspics. Some I liked, some I did not. As a kid, I was always fascinated with the ‘jiggly dessert’.
strawberry shortcake
This dessert has been a family favourite for decades. The strawberry we consume today was first bred in France in the 1750s.
blueberry dump cake
If ever there was an award for a recipe with super low effort and delicious results, this blueberry dump cake would grab first place!
Cruffin
Baked like a muffin, flaky like a croissant and tastes like a cinnamon roll. Puff pastry rolled with butter, cinnamon and sugar: light, flaky and delicious.
