Appetizers
The first bite sets the stage for the evening. I adore savoury little dishes, just not the fussy ones that keep me in the kitchen all afternoon. I’ll cut corners anywhere except flavour. The prep is done ahead, so when family or friends arrive, the appetizers are ready, and I’m at the table with them.
parmesan tuiles
Tuile (pronounced tweel) is a French word for tile and is a thin, crisp cookie with a lacy texture. They can be sweet or savoury.
Oysters with Caesar Granita
Freshly shucked oysters topped with my Caesar granita: Clamato, vodka, Worcestershire and hot sauce frozen into icy crystals. Briny, salty and a little hot.
Braised Chicken Wings
Sticky braised wings glazed in a savoury-sweet sauce, finished with sliced scallions.
Hummus with a Surprising Ingredient
A classic hummus with one unexpected addition that deepens the flavour, you’ll have to guess what it is.
Garlic Scapes Hummus
A seasonal twist on hummus made with curly garlic scapes in place of raw garlic, milder and greener.
