frozen yogurt treats
I know, Fall is around the corner and I am posting about a summery snack. These frozen yogurt treats can be enjoyed all year round; if you like ice cream any time of the year, you’ll like this. Serve them as shown or atop a fruit salad. It’s one of the easiest snacks to make and has no real recipe to follow. My kind of dish. 🙂
ingredients
Greek-style yogurt (Balkan-style or the one I used, Icelandic-style)
maple syrup or honey (optional)
fresh fruit (raspberries, blueberries, banana slices)
chocolate bar (make sure its cover is sealed in a plastic)
method
Grab a bowl and add yogurt. Drizzle in maple syrup (about 1 tablespoon). Do a taste test to see if more is needed. Stir to combine. On a baking tray lined with parchment paper, place a heaping tablespoon of the yogurt mixture and flatten it out. Place desired fruit on top. Freeze until firm (roughly half an hour depending on how thick each round is).
When the yogurt rounds are frozen, place boiling water into a shallow bowl and add the chocolate bar. When the chocolate has melted (about 4 minutes), remove yogurt rounds from the freezer. Cut a corner off the chocolate bar and squeeze over each round.
the culinary chase’s note:
I thought the cookies ‘n cream bar would be nice but I hadn’t taken into consideration the chunks of cookie. Oh well, next time. Enjoy!
