Peaches are in season and I cannot get enough of them! I am not alone in this craving as there are tons of recipes to satisfy any sweet tooth. This is one of the easiest desserts you will ever make. It’s simple and elegant. The dish is thought to have originated in England, where fresh cream was commonly paired with fruits as a dessert. Below is a perfect dessert for two people. Use the measurements as a guideline and make them according to the number of guests you’ll be serving. Not familiar with St-Germain elderflower liqueur? Think of delicate aromas of peach, pear and grapefruit; a lovely pairing with this dish.
A fun fact: peaches originated in China (10,000 BC). They are a versatile fruit and can be served as a dessert or in a savoury dish. For more ideas, click here. 🙂
ingredients
1 1/2 cups whipping cream
2 peaches
1 oz St-Germain elderflower liqueur
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
zest of half a lemon
1 tablespoon maple syrup
method
1. Prepare the Peaches: Slice the peaches and place them in a bowl. Add elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, lemon zest, and one tablespoon of white sugar. Gently toss to combine. Allow the peaches to marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance their flavour.
2. Whip the Cream: In a separate bowl, combine the whipping cream with a tablespoon of maple syrup. Beat until soft peaks form; you want the cream firm enough to allow the peaches to stay on top.
3. Assemble the Dessert: Spoon a generous dollop of whipped cream into each serving bowl. Arrange the marinated peaches on top, spooning over some of the aromatic juice. Top with whipped cream and finish with lemon zest.
