whipped coffee
Whipped coffee was invented in Macau in 1997. I had never heard of it before even though it was an internet sensation during COVID. How did I miss that? I suppose ‘better late than never’. 🙂 What is whipped coffee, you ask? It consists of three things; instant coffee, sugar and water. This doesn’t sound like anything intriguing. However, the magic is in whisking these ingredients together to form a delicious, creamy soft whipped cream consistency. Take advantage of this creamy texture and make a coffee parfait dessert by folding the whipped coffee into whipped cream. If you enjoy coffee drinks, try my iced coffee (better than Starbucks).
you will need
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons instant coffee
1 oz warm water
method
Add sugar and instant coffee to a glass and stir to combine. Then add water. Mix with a handheld milk frother until it resembles soft whipped cream.
After a minute or two, the mixture doubles in size. Add ice cubes to the glass and top with milk.
the culinary chase’s note:
You can use a small whisk if you don’t have a handheld frother. Bear in mind this will take a bit longer to make. Switch things up and use orgeat almond syrup instead of sugar. Enjoy!
This sounds delish! Miss seeing you making it though
Thanks, Nancy. I do have a video but still trying to figure out how to embed it. 🙂
